FREQUENTLY
ASKED
QUESTIONS
Q: What kind of spaces do you work with?
A: Compact, urban homes — primarily condos and apartments.
Square footage isn’t the main factor. What matters is that the layout feels constrained or underperforming. I specialize in transforming small, challenging spaces into efficient, cohesive homes that actually work.
Q: What if I want to make structural changes later?
A: My work is non-structural only.
I don’t move walls or handle permit-based renovations. Instead, I focus on intelligent spatial redesign — optimizing what you already have through layout, furnishings, and styling. If you’re planning a renovation or construction project, you’ll need a licensed interior designer or architect.
Q: How long does the process take?
A: Most Conceptual Plans are delivered within 2–3 weeks of your design intake.
If you choose to move forward with implementation / project management, timelines will depend on product lead times and vendor scheduling — all clearly outlined before we begin.
Q: Do you offer revisions to the design concepts?
A: The short answer: no — because you won’t need them.
You receive two fully developed, professional concepts, each one intentional and complete. My process is built on clarity, not endless revisions. Every option you see has been considered from both a functional and aesthetic standpoint. Once you choose your direction, we move forward with confidence.
Q: Can I mix and match elements from each concept?
A: You can — but I don’t create hybrid versions.
Each concept is designed as a whole system that supports your layout, storage needs, and flow. Mixing parts from different concepts can compromise that integrity. My role is to guide you toward the one that truly fits how you live — not just what looks good in isolation.
Q: What if I change my mind mid-project?
A: That’s unlikely, and that’s by design.
We won’t move forward until you’re completely aligned with your chosen concept. Once that’s confirmed, I execute that vision with precision. The process itself prevents uncertainty — that’s what you’re hiring me for.
Q: Will you go shopping with me?
A: Only if it’s for new golf clubs.
I partner exclusively with reputable Vancouver-based retailers and showrooms, so you can experience furnishings in person if you’d like — or rely entirely on my recommendations. My role is to design strategically, not to act as a retail companion.
Q: Will the space actually look good, or is it all about function?
A: Both — always.
A small space has to perform well, but it also needs to feel like you. I translate your aesthetic preferences into a cohesive, well-composed environment that’s as intentional as it is beautiful. Function and form are inseparable here.
Q: Is this sustainable design?
A: Yes — thoughtfully so.
I prioritize local sourcing, responsible materials, and long-term durability over disposable trends, and employ a no demo/reno approach. I don’t claim perfection, but I design with integrity and intention. Sustainability is built into the process, not added at the end.
Q: Can you just help with colour palettes or quick styling?
A: No — that’s not where I work best.
My focus is on layout-led redesign and decorating — solving real spatial challenges, not surface-level decoration. If you’re only seeking colour or accessory guidance, there are talented stylists who specialize in that. My work goes deeper.
Q: Can I use your design plan but implement it myself?
A: Absolutely.
Your Conceptual Redesign and Decorating Plan is designed to stand on its own — complete, clear, and actionable. Whether you implement it yourself or bring me back for execution, you’ll have everything you need to move forward with confidence.
Q: Is this service expensive?
A: It’s an investment — and a smart one.
Good design prevents costly mistakes. My process ensures that every purchase, layout, and finish choice has purpose. It’s intelligent, strategic, efficient design that saves you money, space, and time — while improving the way you live every day.
Q: Do you work with clients outside Vancouver?
A: Yes.
The conceptual phase can be completed virtually through guided measurements, photos, and video walkthroughs. If you’re local to Vancouver, in-person sessions are standard — but remote collaboration works beautifully for out-of-town clients.
